Safe Travels Stamp Program

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has granted its Safe Travels stamp to Northern British Columbia. This specially designed stamp allows travelers to recognize destinations and tourism businesses around the world which have adopted globally standardized health and hygiene protocols so visitors can experience safe travels. Tourism stakeholders in Northern BC can apply for use of the Safe Travels stamp below. Eligible businesses will be able to use the stamp for their own promotion once they have met the health and hygiene protocols outlined by the WTTC.

BC Tourism Climate Resilience Initiative (BCTCRI) - Project 3: Sustainability And Climate Adaptation Data Framework

Project Three was designed to develop and implement a sustainability and climate adaptation data framework that encourages industry alignment with policies and practices, common metrics, and data collection methods in the areas of sustainability and climate adaptation. 


A Working Group has been established to develop the data framework and guide implementation. The process they are using includes: 

  • an exploratory sample inventory of organizations offering sustainability and climate adaptation data, measures, and programs that currently exist internationally, nationally, and within BC; 

  • a globally recognized performance measurement process to develop a set of key quantifiable measures; and 

  • workshop discussions and engagement with partners and experts. 


Further information on Project 3 will be provided once the Working Group has finalized the data framework and moves into implementation.

BC Hydro GO Fund

The BC Hydro GO Fund is providing support to Peace Region Community Non-Profits to Generate Opportunities. The BC Hydro GO Fund is a program administered by Northern Development Initiative Trust (Northern Development) on behalf of BC Hydro. The Fund will provide $100,000 per year of construction of the Site C Clean Energy Project to community non-profit organizations.

  • Provides a source of funding to assist in organizational capacity and program implementation 

  • An efficient approval process for complete and well documented applications 

Objective

The purpose of the program is to reduce inequities through financial grants to local non-profit organizations that provide services to children, families, and seniors. The BC Hydro GO Fund is targeted to support non-profit organizations serving the communities of Fort St. John, Hudson’s Hope, Taylor, Chetwynd, and residents of Peace River Regional District (Electoral Areas B, C and E). Funding decisions will be made by a regional committee with appointees from the communities and rural areas that the Fund is serving.

Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program (FWCB) - Community Engagement Grants

Eligible projects must be led by either a municipality or regional district and result in a community-wide vision for the downtown and an action plan that identifies ways to achieve the vision.

BC Employer Training Grant Program

The B.C. Employer Training Grant provides funding to small, medium and large enterprises to support skills training for their workforces, including prospective new hires. 

The intent of this program is to help British Columbians access the skills training required to adapt to the labour market’s changing job requirements, while also encouraging employer involvement in skills training. 

The Employer Training Grant helps employers pay for training, which in turn helps employees experience increased job security or move into better jobs.
